Relaunching downtown Montréal in an environment undergoing profound change – Strategies for leveraging new ways of organizing work and consumption downtown study

The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal is proud to present Relaunching downtown Montréal in an environment undergoing profound change – Strategies for leveraging new ways of organizing work and consumption downtown, an impact study that documents the effects of the rise in remote working and ecommerce on the private sector and on the commercial fabric of downtown, by setting out different scenarios for the gradual return of workers, students, residents, and visitors to the area.

This effort, the objective of which is to strengthen downtown and its business sectors, also made it possible to identify factors that will ultimately make downtown a more diversified, resilient, and accessible economic centre.

The study will make it possible to prepare downtown decision makers and employers to:

  1. Transition to new models of organizing work;
  2. Enhance the downtown experience and promote mixed use;
  3. Contribute to making informed private investment decisions;
  4. Position downtown as a strategic sector that contributes to the city’s international profile.
