The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal unveils the names of the fourteen young Greater Montreal finalists in the Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest
Montreal, May 7, 2003 - Fourteen young entrepreneurs or teams of entrepreneurs carried the honours during the award ceremony for the Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest, Montreal region, held Tuesday, May 6, at the Hotel Inter-Continental Montréal. This fifth edition of the contest for the Montreal region was launched by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. The winners will attend the provincial gala in Quebec City on June 17, when prizes will be awarded to the regional winners.
The Board of Trade wishes to congratulate the local winners and commend the entrepreneurial spirit of all who participated in this event. It also wishes them the best of luck during the finals of the Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest .
The economic prosperity of Greater Montreal is a key concern of the Board of Trade and its some 7,000 members of the business community. That is why I am particularly proud of the high quality of participants who contributed to the success of this contest aiming to develop an entrepreneurial culture and skills. The creativity they demonstrated confirms the vitality of the younger generation in both the academic and business worlds, declared Benoit Labonté, president of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

The Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest awarded grants ranging from $300 to $3,500 to all winners in both the Business creation and Student entrepreneurship components, thanks to the financial support of its chief partner, the Ministère des Affaires municipales, du Sport et du Loisir du Québec (formerly the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de la Métropole); its title partner, the Government of Canada; its major regional partners, Desjardins and Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton; and its regional partners, the Conseil régional de développement de l'île de Montréal (CRDÎM), the Fondation du maire de Montréal pour la jeunesse (fmmj), and Hebdos Transcontinental Inc.
The Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest is a province-wide event designed to stimulate the development of an entrepreneurial culture and the creation of new businesses. The contest unites several stakeholders from the educational, financial, and business worlds who have agreed to be associated with this event. These sponsor-partners have given their support to this contest aiming to reward the entrepreneurial spirit in our region.
