Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak to speak before the Board of Trade on February 16

Montréal, December 19, 2014 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce that Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, Inc., will speak before the city’s business community as part of the Bell International Leaders series. This event, organized in partnership with evenko and made possible through the support of Bell, will take place in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts de Montréal, on February 16 from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

“It’s an honour to have Steve Wozniak speak before the Board of Trade; he’s a bona fide genius and a born entrepreneur who shaped the computer industry at its beginnings,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “Working with the illustrious Steve Jobs, he designed the very first line of Apple personal computers, which led to the company’s official foundation in 1976. Behind every Apple product that we hold in our hands today lies the ingenuity, creativity and intelligence of this great man who helped build one of the largest and most prosperous multinationals in computing and electronics.”

“evenko is proud to partner with the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal to present Steve Wozniak, an international leader who revolutionized the new technology industry and shaped how we use technology,” said Jacques Aubé, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of evenko. “No doubt he will share his inspiring vision and innovative ideas, which made him one of the most influential figures in computing on the planet.”

For his career at Apple, Steve Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology by the President of the United States in 1985, the country’s highest honour for leaders in innovation. The same year, the inventor left Apple and embarked on new business and philanthropic projects, particularly in education. He got involved with students, helping them develop their knowledge of computers and stimulating their creativity. He invested his time and significant resources in the Los Gatos School District, a California school district he adopted.

“Steve Wozniak is a leader on all fronts,” Mr. Leblanc said. “He creates, develops, commercializes, is involved in the community and gives. The title of his autobiography, iWoz: Computer Geek to Cult Icon, sums up the extent of his accomplishments and how they shaped the world of technology as we know it today.”

Steve Wozniak will be speaking before the Board of Trade as part of the Conseil du patronat du Québec’s recently launched Campaign for the Prosperity of Québec. “This collaboration demonstrates the Board of Trade’s support for this integrated communication strategy to harness the economic potential of Quebec by leveraging its businesses and entrepreneurs,” Mr. Leblanc said.

This Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal event is organized with the support of Bell, in partnership with evenko and with the cooperation of CJAD 800, the Conseil du patronat du Québec, La Presse+, the Montreal Gazette, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and TACT Intelligence-conseil. Before Steve Wozniak, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, President Nicolas Sarkozy, President Mikhail Gorbachev, Senator Arnold Schwarzenegger, Prime Minister Tony Blair, President George W. Bush and former United States Federal Reserve President Alan Greenspan have spoken as part of the Board of Trade’s International Leaders series.
