Certification of the CSeries CS100: More great news for Bombardier

Montréal, December 18, 2015 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is delighted with the certification of the CSeries CS100 announced by Transport Canada. After investments by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and the Government of Quebec this fall, this is a third piece of good news in just a few weeks for a flagship of the Quebec economy.

“This certification is excellent news for the aerospace sector and Quebec’s economy,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “Transport Canada’s announcement should accelerate the sales of the aircraft and significantly increase orders. Already the CSeries project has created almost 2,000 direct jobs in the country, 1,700 of them in Quebec. An estimated 12,500 jobs will be created by the program once production reaches its peak.”

“The CSeries is a perfect example of Canadian innovation, and it will revolutionize the world of aviation,” Michel Leblanc said. “It is a model of clean technology; fuel consumption for these aircraft will be 10% and 20% lower than its competitors. Plus its environmental performance is unrivalled: CO2 emissions will be reduced by 20% and NOx emissions by 50%. At a time when reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a priority, the CS100’s arrival on the market is great news.”

“This announcement, combined with the fact that Bombardier and its CSeries activities are based in Quebec for the next 20 years, ensures Greater Montréal’s position as an international aerospace hub for years to come,” Michel Leblanc said.
