Ensure steady, sustained growth in Quebec and Montréal.

The Quebec economy is outperforming key markets. Since 2018, Quebec’s economic growth has outpaced that of Canada. The city is steadfastly the driver of this growth and is showing the strongest growth of Canadian cities. The challenge for the Government of Quebec is to stay on course for long-term growth in a context with the potential for negative external shocks, with a local economy on sound footing, but still subject to major pressure due to labour scarcity.

In anticipation of the Government of Quebec’s 2020-2021 budget, the Chamber presents its recommendations, in line with four priorities:

  1. Improve access to skilled labour
  2. Increase business competitiveness and reduce the personal tax burden
  3. Position Quebec as a leader in the fight against climate change
  4. Carry out structuring metropolitan projects for the economy

By focusing on these priorities in its next budget, the government can ensure steady, sustained growth for the province and the city.
