As part of Relaunch MTL, the specific challenges and opportunities to propel the recovery of 11 key sectors of the Montréal economy were diagnosed, using data and strategic information gathered in real time. The resulting action plans are intended to identify the most appropriate actions and solutions to assist decision-making within businesses and across all three levels of government.
During the Strategic Forum on Construction and Infrastructure, the sector's many strategic partners identified the significant challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. The issue of labour, whose needs were already critical before the pandemic, continues to be the most worrisome for the industry, which is also particularly concerned about the impact of the crisis on the vitality of the downtown core and the acceleration of urban sprawl. Slower investment and increased uncertainty in the real estate market—mainly in the commercial sector—are among the industry's other major concerns.
