Montréal, October 26, 2015 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is delighted with the creation of the PME MTL network, announced this morning by the Mayor of Montréal and President of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, Denis Coderre. This decision echoes the Board of Trade’s position, as set out in the Côté-Séguin report, which called for the aid system for economic development to be streamlined and rationalized. This is a step in the right direction to make aid to Montréal entrepreneurs more efficient and effective.
“Streamlining Montréal’s economic development aid system simplifies the structures that offer support to entrepreneurship,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “The aid available to entrepreneurs differed from place to place, so the quality and availability of services to entrepreneurs varied a great deal. This morning’s announcement sends a clear message that aid to entrepreneurs will be made consistent and standardized and will help ensure that best practices are instituted throughout the city.”
“The transition to this new system must be organized to ensure that guidance and financial aid for entrepreneurial projects are continuously available,” Mr. Leblanc said.
Info entrepreneurs will collaborate with the new network
“The Ville de Montréal can count on the full cooperation of our team of business information experts at Info entrepreneurs to direct entrepreneurs to appropriate resources,” Mr. Leblanc said. “Our web portal, which receives over a million annual visits, helps showcase economic development organizations like PME MTL to the three levels of government and the private sector. We will pursue the commitment we made 20 years ago to entrepreneurs to facilitate their growth and simplify their access to information.”
