Vaccinations against influenza A(H1N1): An invitation to companies on the Island of Montréal

Press release

Vaccinations against influenza A(H1N1):
An invitation to companies on the Island of Montréal

December 11, 2009 - The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal (the Montréal Agency) are combining forces to help companies in the region contribute to the fight against influenza A(H1N1). Two different services are now available to make it easier for staff to get vaccinated.

Reserved vaccination times
As of today, any company located on the Island of Montréal can reserve times at a vaccination centre free of charge for its employees, who can get vaccinated at this centre no matter what their place of residence. Employees getting vaccinated may also bring their families if they wish.

Vaccinations by company health units
Now that the vaccine is available in sufficient quantities, companies can have staff vaccinated by their own health units. Companies that opt for this service will get support from the Centre de santé et de services sociaux of their territory, which will provide training for health unit staff and supply doses of the vaccine.

"Montréal businesses are well aware of their responsibilities and duties towards both their employees and society as a whole. They know that vaccinations are the best tool not only to protect their staff members but also to mitigate the economic and organizational repercussions of influenza A(H1N1). We invite them to take advantage of these Montréal Agency resources, which will facilitate staff vaccinations and help increase the overall vaccination rate. Together, we can considerably slow the spread of the flu in the winter months to come," declared Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

"I would like to thank the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its President and CEO, Mr. Michel Leblanc, for supporting our vaccination campaign. With the holidays just a few days away, we need to do everything we can to make it easier for as many people as possible to get vaccinated. Reserved times will prevent needless waiting so that even more of us will be protected and can protect others against the flu," added Mr. David Levine, President and Executive Director of the Montreal Agency.

To take advantage of these services, simply contact the Montréal Agency at 514 286-5503.
