The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal congratulates the winners of the
Visionary Employers Award from the Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille

Montréal, November 10, 2011 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal would like to congratulate the four organizations that received the first Visionary Employers Award yesterday from the Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille (INLB). St-Hubert Restaurants, the Régie du logement, the Société Logique and Groleau Traiteur won an award for hiring people with a visual impairment.

“The Board of Trade, along with the Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille, believes it is important to pay tribute to major employers in the metropolitan area who are committed to the community,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “This is a special partnership, because these awards are part of the festivities surrounding the 150th anniversary of the INLB, and we, in turn, will be marking a milestone in 2012: our 190th anniversary. This event recognizes the important contribution of companies to two organizations that have made a difference in their respective worlds for many years.”
“We hope that prosperous companies, such as St-Hubert Restaurants, who make hiring people with visual impairments part of their employment practice, will become an example for the business community and that this award will inspire other players,” Michel Leblanc said.

“In Quebec, around 136,000 people are living with a visual impairment,” Mr. Leblanc said. “They are an important resource for the city’s job market, and with the current labour shortage we cannot forgo such talent. Quebec needs all the resources at its disposal to distinguish itself and grow. As a result we can’t ignore the contribution of blind people to our economy.”

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is made up of some 7,000 members. Its mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montréal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
