Press release

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal
invites the candidates from Quebec's three major political parties
responsible for the major issues affecting Montreal's economy to participate in a debate

Montreal, March 12, 2003 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has issued an invitation to the candidates from Quebec's three major political parties who will be responsible for the major issues affecting Montreal's economy to participate in a debate broadcast live on RDI (Réseau de l'Information) on March 26, 2003, at Centre Sheraton.  The subjects proposed are city financing, transportation, housing, and health.

Considering the importance of the choice to be made by voters on April 14, 2003, the Board of Trade wishes to offer its members, the entire business community, and the people of Quebec – particularly those living in metropolitan Montreal, the economic engine of Quebec – a chance to hear each of the candidates explain their vision of the major metropolitan issues that shape and will continue to shape the development of Greater Montreal.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has more than 7,000 members. Its mission is to be the leading group representing the interests of the Greater Montreal business community.  Its objectives are to maintain, at all times, relevance to its membership, credibility towards the public and influence towards government and decision-makers.
