Electronic Commerce Institute - A Finalist at the Octas 2003! Montreal, April 3, 2003 - The Electronic Commerce Institute, a branch of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, was among the finalists selected at the annual Octas contest of the Fédération Informatique du Québec, held at the Montreal Omni Mont-Royal Hotel on April 2. The Institute's Online E-Business Certification program was selected in the E-training and knowledge management category for its innovative interactive self-learning model, which consists of pre-course readings, content dissemination, concrete case studies and exchanges within a community of interest.
"The Institute's approach to its distance training program is what sets it apart: rather than simply transferring content online, the Institute has developed a unique learning model where participants study in a friendly virtual environment. Its success lies in the ease with which it can reach individuals in many regions and still offer personalized service. The Online E-Business Certification program is no longer a privilege reserved for large urban centres; all managers at all levels and in all the regions now have access to the same quality of content, guidance and follow-up," affirmed Pierre Langelier, general manager of the Electronic Commerce Institute. "This training is flexible, user friendly and accessible any time from any place and at a pace that suits the participant. Online training reduces time and distance constraints as well as travel expense and makes it possible to maximize the profitability of the company's training budget while optimizing the time invested in training."
Moreover, the virtual aspect of the program, also offered in class, consists of eight hours leading to a professional certificate recognized by accounting orders and professional associations and is certified by HEC Montréal. The online training focuses on integrating e-commerce into all the company's functions, including logistics, legal affairs, marketing, sales and others. This project owes its existence to the strategic contribution of its partner Bell Canada and technology solutions provider Technomédia. The Institute would also like to thank the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the Ministère des Finances, de l'Économie et de la Recherche for their financial support.
A branch of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, the Electronic Commerce Institute was founded in 1990 to promote, motivate and accelerate the use of e-commerce by companies.
