2013 Montréal Elections: the debate on the economy
The Board of Trade to host three mayoral candidates

Montréal, September 11, 2013 – As part of the campaign for Montréal mayor, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce that, together with RDI économie, it will hold a debate on major economic issues. Richard Bergeron, Denis Coderre and Marcel Côté will go head to head during the event being held October 21 at 5 p.m. at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

The event, hosted by Gérald Fillion, will have two parts. Candidates will first take turns outlining their plan for the city’s development. A one-hour debate among candidates will follow, to be broadcast on RDI.

“The November 3 election is a turning point in our city’s history,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “The next mayor and his or her team will have to rebuild the trust of Montrealers. They will have to show leadership, mobilize the public and the business community, reinforce our economic base, get the ear and the respect of other levels of government and rebuild the city’s image. Obviously, expectations are high.”

“Today we are announcing the not-to-be-missed economic event of the mayoralty race,” Mr. Leblanc said. “I am confident that we will see an impassioned debate in an extraordinary atmosphere. Those in attendance will have the chance to witness a decisive moment in the campaign.”
