Montréal complètement cirque:
A new festival showcasing our city as a hub of circus-arts activity

Montréal, April 19, 2010 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal applauds the birth of a new international festival dedicated to circus-arts, Montréal complètement cirque, which will begin enriching cultural life in the metropolis this summer.

“This announcement is the result of the mobilization of various partners to give rise to the Montréal complètement cirque festival, beginning with TOHU, the Government of Quebec, and the City of Montréal. Montréal expertise developed through the organization of major festivals, combined with the ongoing collaboration of different partners, has allowed Montréal complètement cirque to materialize in record time. We are inviting the business community to get involved now by seizing the opportunity to support an initiative in its early stages, and by making this event a huge success,” rejoiced Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

“By investing in a creative sector—circus-arts—, in which it excels and for which it already enjoys international renown, Montréal is giving itself a great opportunity to further strengthen its cultural reach and its power of attraction. Within a few years, Montréal complètement cirque will most certainly be one of the not-to-be-missed major events of the summer, much like the Montréal International Jazz Festival or Just for Laughs. We have every reason to proudly celebrate this new initiative,” concluded Michel Leblanc.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is made up of some 7,000 members. Its mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montréal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity, and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
