Denis Coderre elected mayor of Montréal - A new impetus for the city

Montréal, November 4, 2013  ‒ After yesterday’s municipal elections, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal would like to offer its full support to the new mayor of Montréal and his team, and to all the mayors of municipalities in Greater Montréal.

“I would like to congratulate Mr. Coderre on this victory,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “With his election, Montrealers are hoping to turn the page and regain their pride in their city. The expectations are high, but this is a unique opportunity to make a mark on the history of our community.”

“We would also like to congratulate all the candidates who ran and thereby contributed to the debate and the democratic process,” Michel Leblanc said. “This healthy competition and exchange of ideas pushed candidates to excel. More importantly, the impressive number of quality candidates demonstrated that Montréal is worth committing to.”

“Now that democracy has spoken, the time has come to rally around the priorities of the mayor of Montréal, Denis Coderre, and his team,” Michel Leblanc said. “On behalf of the business community, the Board of Trade would like to offer its full support to the mayor of Montréal and president of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal. We encourage all economic and political players to get on board and help restore Montréal’s vitality.”

“The next four years of the new administration will end with the celebrations of Montréal’s 375th anniversary,” Mr. Leblanc said. “We need to all work together so that come that time, Montrealers and Quebecers have had their pride restored in the city.”
