The 2012 Prix Arts-Affaires de Montréal: 17 candidates involved with the Montréal arts community

Montréal, May 22, 2013 – The co-chairs of the Honorary Committee for the Prix Arts-Affaires de Montréal, Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, and the Honourable Charles Lapointe, PC, President of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, are pleased to announce the 17 candidates for the 2012 edition of the awards, which recognize the involvement of business people in the arts in Greater Montréal. The winners will receive their awards on June 11, 2013 during a ceremony at the Théâtre Rialto, in a 1920s-inspired setting.

The jury that selects the winners is made up of Montréal luminaries from business and the arts. Doing the honours this year will be Éric Fournier, Partner and Executive Producer at Moment Factory, Alexandre Taillefer, Managing Partner of XPND Capital, Mario Tremblay, Vice-President for Public and Corporate Affairs at the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Karla Étienne, Executive Assistant and performer at Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata, and Isabelle Chassé, co-founder of 7 doigts de la main.

“There are some great alliances formed behind the scenes,” Moment Factory’s Éric Fournier says. “This is why we need to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the different sorts of partnerships between Montréal business people and the arts community.”

“What is most striking is the vision of the business people who get involved so generously,” says Karla Étienne from Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata. “These awards may plant an idea in the minds of other Montréal business men and women, so that even more arts organizations benefit from their involvement.”

The jury will study the 17 nominations, all submitted by cultural organizations that want to recognize the people and businesses that offered their support between January 1 and December 31, 2012.
