Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal salutes Stationnement de Montréal:
BIXI, an unparalleled ambassador of Montréal know-how

Montréal, August 12, 2009 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal was delighted with today's announcement that two large contracts have been awarded to develop and implement the BIXI public bike system – developed by Stationnement de Montréal – in London and Boston.

“The fact that the BIXI concept appeals to such big cities as London and Boston is a testament to Montréal's know-how, more specifically, the creative bike design and technologically innovative computerized docking stations. The BIXI system, which stands out from the competition, was chosen not only by the British firm Serco, which was awarded the large London contract, but also by Boston's Metropolitan Area Planning Council. This is excellent news for Montréal and for all of Quebec,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

“After setting itself apart on the international scene soon after it came out in Montréal, the BIXI public bike system will continue raising Montréal's stature as a green city and a UNESCO City of Design. We firmly believe that London and Boston will open the door to many other markets,” added Mr. Leblanc.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its primary mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montreal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
