Art at work: When private enterprise partners with artists
in the name of creativity and innovation
Montréal, September 18, 2007 The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is proud to be associated with the pilot project Art at work, an initiative of Culture pour tous, as part of the 11th edition of the Journées de la culture. The Board of Trade immediately agreed to participate in the first edition of this pilot project by welcoming Caroline Hayeur as photographer in residence over the summer months. The fruit of this creative effort, in which all of the organization's employees took part, will be unveiled during the 2007 Journées de la culture.
The Art at work' project represented an extremely stimulating challenge for the Board of Trade. Our goal, of course, was to spark the interest and encourage the participation of all our employees in a unifying project but also to explore the creative side of our daily work. We are very pleased to have shared this experience with Caroline Hayeur, who agreed to oversee this project with our team this summer, declared Isabelle Hudon, president and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
Our employees were invited to present their vision of Montréal the great cause defended by the Board of Trade at every opportunity in the form of a photograph, and I was delighted to discover the artistic talents of the members of my team! They let themselves be swept up in a spirit of creativity and spent time and effort depicting the emotions inspired by our metropolis. Hats off to Caroline for bringing all these passions to the fore! continued Hudon.
Hayeur photographed each staff member and their creations in their work places. The images will then be assembled in a collective mosaic. The goal of this artistic effort was to highlight the contrasts and also the connections between the public spaces as seen through the eyes of the employees and the spaces where they work, contributing each in their own way to the development of the metropolis.
