Skills for tomorrow

It's a changing world: let's get ready for the jobs of the future! Events The speech will be presented mainly in French.

Access to qualified labour is key for a knowledge-based economy saddled with an aging population. Certain businesses are currently having trouble meeting their needs and finding specialized workers. This situation is compounded by the emergence of breakthrough technologies that are forcing businesses to quickly adapt, and to revise their business models, their approach, and their strategies in order to remain productive and competitive.

These changes will have significant impacts on the labour market, and will require the acquisition of new skills in existing occupations, as well as the creation of entirely new occupations. Government, teaching establishments, and businesses must now more than ever work together to effectively respond to new job market realities.

We must resolutely commit to taking action without delay. The time to act is now, so that we can be ready for the jobs of tomorrow.

Taking part in this event will allow you to:

  1. Seize a unique opportunity to explore the strategies that have been implemented here and on an international level by businesses, governments, and teaching establishments in an effort to reduce the skills gap.
  2. Understand upcoming challenges, and identify solutions and priorities with regards to skill development.
  3. Be part of the mobilization around this issue affecting the city’s flagship sectors.
