Context
The pandemic has given a serious boost to the need for the digital transformation of society and businesses. The strong growth of e-commerce, teleworking on an unprecedented scale and the increased use of telemedicine are just a few examples of the acceleration of ICT trends. To increase productivity, companies have no choice but to adopt even more digital technology. Artificial intelligence is increasingly affecting the economy and the issue of cybersecurity is more critical than ever. Effective smart infrastructure and a qualified workforce are needed throughout the territory. Clearly, the ICT sector contains many business opportunities and is at the heart of the city’s recovery.
- Demonstrate its economic and strategic importance for the city
- Identify and specify the effects, challenges and opportunities stemming from the COVID-19 crisis
- Present the recovery or sectoral assistance strategies implemented elsewhere that may apply in Québec
- Suggest courses of action and sectoral recommendations to political decision makers in Greater Montréal (spearheaded by the Chamber and its partners)
- Promote the ability to rebound through innovation, new business models and corporate strengths
- Demonstrate the role that the sector can play in supporting the recovery of the hardest-hit sectors
- Identify business challenges and opportunities for companies in the short, medium and long term
- Define potential courses of action to strengthen the sector based on established strategic priorities
