Canada and Algeria have a dynamic trade relationship with two-way trade valued at more than $1.5 billion in 2017.

The infrastructure and consulting engineering services, education, aerospace, information and communications technology, and agriculture sectors represent attractive business opportunities for Canada.

Since July 2017, Air Canada has operated a direct flight between Montréal and Algiers, which facilitates trade and business opportunities.

Why Tunisia?

Tunisia, rising growth and investors who are regaining confidence:

  • GDP growth is expected to reach 2.9% in 2019 and 3.4% in 2020
  • Main imports: hydrocarbon-based products (about 13% of the total), followed by vehicles, electrical appliances and wheat
  • The main sectors that attract investment are energy, electronics, tourism and mechanical manufacturing

For Canada, Tunisia offers opportunities in the infrastructure and consulting engineering service sectors, agriculture, education, information and communications technology, and green technology.

Negotiations are underway to conclude a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA).
