Today, Canadians have access to a global cultural market dominated by a handful of foreign digital giants. Against this backdrop, the public broadcaster’s commitment to support Canadian culture and democracy is more important than ever. President and CEO since July 2018, Catherine Tait will discuss the broadcaster’s ambitions for the cultural economy in Canada, as well as the pillars of its new strategic plan. Taking homegrown productions to the world and working with national partners to better compete against the foreign giants are among the key goals. It’s by conveying Canadians’ unique perspectives at home and abroad that the public broadcaster will remain central to our national life.
