Death of Jean Doré - The Board of Trade pays tribute to one of the city’s great visionaries

Montréal, June 15, 2015 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Jean Doré following the announcement of his death.

“Montréal owes a great deal to its 39th mayor,” said Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “When he took the reins of the city in 1986, he introduced a new dynamic at city hall. The business community believes that he profoundly transformed the relationship between the city administration and citizens. He worked hard to attract head offices to the city and retain them, on top of strengthening Montréal’s ties with other major cities around the world.”

“In addition to demonstrating an impressive understanding of the issues, he had a talent for communication that is rarely seen,” Michel Leblanc said. “This great Montrealer has left an incredible legacy for the city, with the Biodôme, the Montréal Museum of Archeology and History, the extensive redesign of the Old Port and Parc Jean-Drapeau, including the beach that carries his name. He was an exceptional builder and visionary who helped make our city one of the greatest in North America.”
