Mila Mulroney immigrated to Canada from Sarajevo, Yugoslavia in 1958 to join her father, Dr. Dmitrije Pivnicki, who was pursuing graduate studies in psychiatry at McGill University. Mrs. Mulroney is married to the 18th Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney. She has played a vital role in her husband's career as Party Leader and Prime Minister.

Much of her time now is devoted to volunteer work, such as the welfare of children, particularly children with disabilities. She is on the Board of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis, a cause for which she has raised millions of dollars. She is presently on the Boards of Astral Media, Le Cercle Entreprendre, Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, as well as being co-chair of the annual Taste of the Nations Gala, an event which raises money for hungry children in Montreal.
