The CHUM Research Centre:
Another step in making the CHUM a reality

Montréal, May 29, 2008 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal welcomes today's announcement concerning the call for proposals for the CHUM Research Centre.

“With this call for proposals, the Quebec Government is making an even firmer commitment to the creation of the new CHUM. For the Board of Trade, this is thus an important step, as it confirms the government's desire to move forward with what is one of the most important projects in the health-care sector for the greater benefit of Montréal and all of Quebec,” declared Isabelle Hudon, president and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

“The creation of this research centre, which will bring together a full complement of 1,300, is part of the major project composed of the CHUM, MUHC, and Sainte-Justine university medical centres. In developing such state-of-the-art infrastructures, Montréal is not only perfecting arguments that will enable it to attract the best foreign talent and additional investments in the health-care sector; it is also consolidating its leadership position in a high-tech field where it already shines on the North American stage,” concluded Hudon.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its primary mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montreal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
