Patrick Pichette to speak before the Board of Trade:
an inside look at the Google success story

Montréal, September 20, 2011 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce that Quebecker Patrick Pichette, Senior Vice-President and CFO of Google, will speak before the Montréal business community on Monday, October 24 at the Centre Sheraton as part of the Board of Trade’s “Bell International Leaders” series.

“Google is one of the best examples of success in the telecommunications era,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade. “Through their talent and drive for innovation, its two young founders transformed a small business into one of the largest multinationals. It’s also the ultimate symbol of a knowledge economy based on the democratization of information.”

The company’s original mission was to organize information globally and to make it universally available and useful. With its motto Don't be evil, Google tries to promote its desire to work for a better world.

Google continues to grow year in and year out. Today the company has one of the highest valuations in the world. In 2010, it accounted for 6.4% of Internet traffic worldwide, had over 20,000 employees, had sales of almost $30 billion and was the leading search engine on the Web, available in over 150 languages.

“Mr. Pichette’s talk will allow the business community in the Greater Montréal area to better understand the Google model, which encourages employees to innovate and be creative and which allows the company to maintain its aggressive rate of growth,” Mr. Leblanc said. “It will also be an opportunity to understand the vision and future projects of a flagship company in the Web and new online and mobile technologies.”

This Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal event is made possible through the support of Bell and is organized with the cooperation of La Presse and The Gazette.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, George W. Bush, Alain Greenspan and Sir Richard Branson have all preceded Patrick Pichette in addressing the Board of Trade as part of the International Leaders series.
