Mont Royal: a Montréal symbol to cherish

Tuques bleues

For the past 21 years, in cooperation with the business community, the Tuques Bleues benefit has been spotlighting the need to protect Mont Royal, a city treasure that makes a major contribution to Montréal’s appeal among tourists.

Strong mobilization to protect Mont Royal

The Tuques Bleues benefit event is organized every year by Les amis de la montagne, with the business community’s support. For the 21st edition, Robert Tellier, regional vice-president, group retirement solutions and group benefits for Québec at Manulife, and Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, were co-presidents for the event.

In 2018, close to 600 people took part in this friendly competition. Participants climbed the mountain in a magical atmosphere of lanterns, followed by a gastronomic celebration in the majestic Mont-Royal Chalet.

Mont Royal: a symbol of Montreal internationally

Les amis de la montagne was created in 1986 to protect and promote Mont Royal. The idea was to foster community involvement, environmental education and the representation of the interests of the mountain. Donations generated by activities like Tuques Bleues make it possible to develop and enhance services to protect Mont Royal.

Mont Royal is a treasure and natural site where people can get active, which contributes to the quality of life of the city’s residents. Few cities are fortunate enough to have such a unique natural site. Mont Royal is a powerful symbol of Montréal at home and abroad.

An engaged business community

For over ten years, the Chamber and its employees have proudly participated in the Tuques Bleues event and taken action to make the business community aware of issues surrounding protecting our ecosystem. Many businesses in the metropolitan area took part, such as Presima, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, Pembroke Management, Raymond James, Samcon and Woods, to name just a few.

"We are pleased to partner with Les amis de la montagne for the ninth year running as the main partner for the Tuques Bleues benefit. Our involvement shows Manulife’s desire to help protect Mont Royal and to be part of events that promote a healthy, active lifestyle."

- Robert Tellier, regional vice-president, group retirement solutions and group benefits, Québec, Manulife

"For over ten years, the celebration of Tuques Bleues has been a Chamber tradition. Mont Royal is an iconic symbol of the city. We need to protect and promote it. Let’s mobilize for a Montréal treasure."

- Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.
