Guy Laliberté, international-calibre entrepreneur and philanthropist, to speak before the Chamber

Montréal, September 20, 2018 – The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to host entrepreneur and philanthropist Guy Laliberté, who will speak November 8 as part of the Bell International Leaders series.

The founder of Cirque du Soleil, One Drop and Lune Rouge, Guy Laliberté was named one the most influential people on the planet by Time Magazine. He was also chosen as one of the most creative, innovative minds in the world by Condé Nast.

“Guy Laliberté is one of the greatest international ambassadors of Quebec creativity,” said Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. “He is a seasoned businessman with an innovative vision, who is also recognized for his concrete efforts to promote the causes he cares about. He recently acquired the Maison-Alcan as the head office for Lune Rouge and the home for a project worthy of this important piece of heritage, Lune Rouge Creative Hub. Located in a vibrant part of downtown, the organization wants to stimulate entrepreneurship among young creators and help them showcase their projects on the local and international scene.”

“Guy Laliberté encourages us to celebrate our creative talent and hopes younger generations will pursue their dreams and ambitions,” Mr. Leblanc said. “We are proud to welcome this homegrown international leader to speak before the Chamber. I would like to thank Bell for supporting the International Leaders series since its creation. Its support helps make the Chamber a credible, reputable forum for world-class speakers.

Over the years, the Chamber has hosted many prominent speakers as part of its Bell International Leaders series, including President Barack Obama, the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Prime Minister Manuel Valls, President Bill Clinton, former president of General Electric Jack Welch, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.

This Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal event is organized with the support of Bell and presented by BMO, in partnership with evenko and in cooperation with the Montreal Gazette and Norton Rose Fulbright.

Details and registration information are available on the Chamber website.
