The business community is delighted that Montréal has been named an international model for intelligent cities

Montréal, June 17, 2016 ‒ The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal welcomes yesterday’s announcement by the prestigious international organization the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), which has ranked Montréal at the top of intelligent cities for 2016, and would like to congratulate the Ville de Montréal for its leadership.

“This announcement shows that the creation of an intelligent city bureau, the Bureau de la ville intelligente et numérique, implementing a strategic plan and the mayor’s efforts to have the city recognized as an intelligent, digital city have paid off,” said Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Board of Trade. “The city’s rapid rise – to first position after just a few years – is even more impressive.”

“This ranking shows the city’s many assets, particularly the vitality of its economic ecosystem and the tremendous creativity of its many players,” Michel Leblanc said. “Leveraging open innovation and taking advantage of the great diversity of expertise and sectors of excellence is a clear advantage for our businesses. We need to continue modernizing local technology infrastructures and maintaining investment in this growth-generating niche for local businesses.”
